What is Occupational Therapy?
What is Occupational Therapy and Could i benefit?
Occupational Therapy is an Allied Health Profession that is quite varied, and Occupational Therapists can perform a number of different roles depending on where they work.
Put simply, Occupational Therapists generally look at how a task is completed, and what can be done to make the task safer or easier for that person or those around them.
Depending on your needs, Occupational Therapy may be funded in your NDIS plan. Occupational Therapists can assist people with a disability to increase their participation in a variety of different everyday activities, and ensure that support is provided in a safe and appropriate manner.
When considering goals for Occupational Therapy, it may be useful to consider the following questions:
What goals have been identified in your NDIS plan?
Is there an activity you find difficult, that you wish was much easier?
Would you like to learn a new skill?
Would you like to become more independent or safer with an activity?
Have any activities become more difficult in recent months/years?
Are you worried you may hurt yourself when caring for others?
Are you getting enough support to perform the tasks you need to do?
Are your support or accommodation needs likely to change in future?
